Nearpod is a presentation tool that allows teachers to design any lesson to be interactive, whether in a face-to-face classroom or an online environment. Teachers can create interactive presentations and activities for their lessons, that include polls, collaboration boards, and game-based quizzes. In addition, teachers can upload Powerpoint or Google Slides, PDFs, and YouTube videos or choose from ready-to-teach, customizable, standards-aligned, premade lessons, videos, and activities.
Nearpod allows the teacher to interact with students through different teaching modes like Live Participation, Student-paced, or Front of Class. Teachers can also engage students by using activities such as polling, quizzing, drawing, fill-in-the-blank, and matching, as well as embedded video, web content, and documents.
Nearpod has a tiered subscription system, starting at a free level and ranging to a school-wide subscription.

Class ManagementLive Participation mode: Control the pace of a lesson and let students participate on their own devices in-person or with video conferencing.

Front of Class mode: Watch a video as a class and stop to discuss key instructional moments using premade questions without devices.
Nearpod offers nine types of formative assessments to capture students’ understanding. Teachers can create customized Quizzes, Polls, Open-ended Questions, Matching Pairs, VR Field Trips, PhET Simulations, and more. Instruction can be adapted to address misconceptions in-the-moment based on feedback from real-time data.
Instructional Content Management and DeliveryPresentations can be created from scratch in Nearpod, or from existing PowerPoints. Teachers can also choose from ready-to-teach, customizable, standards-aligned premade lessons, videos, and activities.
CollaborationNearpod’s Collaborate Board can be utilized for discussions. Students can type in their thoughts, add a GIF, or upload an image or video onto a virtual note and post it on the board for all to see. Teachers and students can like and comment on the posts as well.
Nearpod is committed to helping teachers create inclusive learning environments, and make continual improvements to ensure that the platform is accessible. Nearpod uses Immersive Reader to provide text-to-speech, translation, contrast, and additional text accessibility features within a lesson (available in web and iOS app version of Nearpod). For videos uploaded through YouTube that contain created-added captions (within Youtube), those captions will be available when the lesson is taught through Nearpod. During the Nearpod sign-up process teachers may be asked to provide some basic information such as first and last name, email address, school, grade level, password, role, and a profile photo. The use of the Nearpod Materials is subject to this Privacy Policy, the Nearpod Terms and Conditions, and any applicable separate agreement signed between Nearpod and the teacher.
