Slido is a Q&A and live polling tool that promotes engagement and interaction. Slido allows the user to connect to a face-to-face or virtual audience through polls and quizzes. It can work in tandem with many popular presentation and online meeting platforms. Slido for Education features integration with Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams, Google Slides, and Zoom Video, as well as remodeled Slido Quizzes.
Slido for Education is an online tool that supports student engagement and assessment through live polls, quizzes, and Q&A sessions. Slido’s features provide a teacher with an additional opportunity to go beyond the traditional classroom learning approach by putting students in the center of the conversation.
Slido has flexible poll options for any classroom situation. Slido polls include multiple choice, word cloud, quizzes, rating polls, open text, and ranking polls. The poll activity has a potential to engage the students, who would typically remain silent and refuse to participate. A teacher can set up the system in a way that the results display in real-time or right after the poll ends for a brief follow-up discussion.
Slido allows a teacher to add quizzes and trivia games to presentations and meetings. The activities can run separately or as part of a presentation or meeting and have multiple settings, such as a time limit for answers. A teacher can design their own quiz, use a quiz template, or utilize a quiz generator.
Slido’s Q&A sessions allow student voices to be heard when they cannot speak out in front of the class. Slido provides for anonymous question posts, and a teacher has an option of reviewing and moderating a question prior to it appearing on the class screen.
Slido Analytics will help a teacher analyze the results of polls, quizzes, and Q&A sessions after class to improve and/or adapt the format and content of an activity. With Slido Analytics, a teacher can generate presentation and meeting reports to see control statistics, such as student engagement, and use it for individual student participation grades. Control statistics will also help a teacher to track polls and topics popular among students, as well as difficult quiz questions.
Students join a Slido session through a QR code or a unique link. Joining the session does not involve software installation. A teacher will still have to install an add-on to use Slido in the presentation or online meeting tools of their choice. Slido for Education’s free version limits the number of student participants, polls, and the selection of privacy options. Paid features include increased number of student participants, unlimited polls and quizzes, moderation of questions, and data export features. All poll, quiz, and Q&A data will be stored under the teacher’s account.
