Screencast-O-Matic allows independent users and professionals to record their device screen and add, if desired, video and audio from their webcam. While recording, the user can narrate presentations and edit recordings, adding background music, trimming unnecessary parts, and adding images and text. Screencast-O-Matic can be accessed in a web browser or through a smartphone application. Welcome to Screencast-O-Matic
Screencast-O-Matic allows teachers to create their recorded video presentations. Teachers can use recorded presentations to introduce topics, explain guidelines, and share learning content with students. Teachers can create videos with an optional combination of device screen recording and webcam video. The tool allows the user to capture either the entire device screen or a section of the screen. The main features are zoom in, adjust speed, resize, draw, add music, add narrations, include text, arrows, shapes, images, and transitions. Teachers can also trim videos and combine content from different recordings into one video.
Recordings are limited to 15-minutes when using Screencast-O-Matic’s free subscription. Screencast-O-Matic videos can be saved as MP4 files or linked to a Screencast-O-Matic account. Through their account, users can create video channels to group the content by specific topics for easy sharing. Videos can be shared through email, Google Classroom, and Microsoft Teams. Teachers can personalize links and share them with students, embed the videos and images in a website, integrate with Learning Management Systems already being used in the class, or directly publish videos to YouTube. Videos can also be downloaded, stored in the teacher’s cloud storage, or shared out directly from their Office 365 or Google storage.
Screencast-O-Matic offers free and paid subscriptions. Paid subscriptions include all features from the free version with additional paid features (ex. allowing for unlimited recording time to record longer video presentations).
